Ageism
John McCain was born in the same year as Barack Obama’s father (I cannot find an exact birthdate), and he is 6 years older than Obama’s mother. Both of Obama’s parents are dead – his father from injuries sustained in a car crash and his mother from multiple cancers. When John McCain was born, there were no zip codes, no area codes, no automatic transmittion, and no LPs. He couldn’t take a peanut butter-and-jelly sandwich with some chocolate chip cookies to school for lunch because NEITHER OF THEM EXISTED!
But I’m missing the point. Here it is: does age really matter? With the life expectancy growing like a magic beanstalk (it was 77.8 in 2005), couldn’t he do it as well as anyone else? Am I being unjustly critical?
Let’s look at some more important facts. The lives of American youth and the businesses of everyone now revolve around the personal computer and the Internet. When the Apple II was released in 1977, John McCain was 41. Obama was 5. When asked what operating system he used, McCain couldn’t answer. He said “I leave those kinds of things to my wife.”
The internet is our #1 tool in catching terrorist groups. What’s going to happen if our commander-in-chief doesn’t use a computer? How is he going to deal with new national issues like net neutrality and digital piracy? Personally, I’d like to see him field some questions on these issues.

Ok so i can see that you are Democratic and that is good that we have differant views. Do you really think that age is such a problem when running for president? Cant McCain use his age as a positive. He has experiences that Obama doesnt have and plus the fact that he did not grow up with the immediate technology or simple things such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches makes him appreciate things more than Obama. Going back to the age isnt there a reason why there is an age requirement to become president? So that is my thoughts on this subject but you had good information to back up your side!
